SOPHEA Gallery and Tibetan Teahouse is set in a beautiful old ivy covered house overlooking the magnificent False Bay of the Western Cape, South Africa. Situated in Seaforth, a suburb of picturesque Simon's Town on the Main road to Cape Point, the Gallery and Teahouse is only 500m from Boulders National Park with its penguins and beautiful beaches.

We are currently open 6 days a week, Tuesday to Sunday, as well as Mondays during School Holidays.
We are closed on Good Friday, 25 & 26 December and 1 January
as well as the Argus Cycle Race day
The first is a Spiritual Art Gallery housing various forms of fine art, ranging from paintings, drawings, sculptures, and ceramics to textiles, photography, glasswork, even digital art. The core essence of these works, by mostly local South African artists - including some well known award-winning artists - is that they exude a special kind of spiritual energy over and above the aesthetic appeal of the individual piece. Exhibitions are based on predetermined themes.
The second component of SOPHEA Gallery is a Shop or artefact and craft section. Sourced from all over the world, from as far afield as the Himalayan regions of Tibet, Nepal, Kashmir and Bhutan with their rich and ancient handicraft traditions, to our own local South African arts and crafts. Items include singing bowls, prayer flags, silver jewellery, ceramics and rich textiles.
The Tibetan Teahouse This is the third component of SOPHEA Gallery. The teahouse leads onto a deep set and sheltered verandah and has fabulous views over False Bay, and is ideal for whale watching. The menu offers imaginative and tasty vegetarian and vegan food, styled on original Tibetan recipes, and is praised by vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. In winter a cosy fireplace and hearty plates of Sherpa Stew or Sweet Potato Curry take care of the cold. All meals and cakes are baked on the premises from the finest ingredients.

The Sanctuary The fourth component of SOPHEA Gallery and Tibetan Teahouse is a room where regular programmes are offered. These include regular weekly meditation as well as monthly singing bowl sound meditations, interesting talks, films and events, including spiritual teachings and Dharma talks.
